She’s a Goa

Tea, Cricket and Jolly Ridiculous Rickshaw Antics

The Challenge

A nice winter break in the subcontinent? Relaxing on the white sands in Goa, sipping on cocktails while the rest of Britain settles down for cold turkey and Christmas re-runs? We will have none of that thank you very much. Our challenge for this Christmas is traverse India, some 2000 plus miles, south to north in under two weeks. And in true League of Adventurist's style, we have to tackle this in a vehicle totally unsuitable for the challenge. As if driving to Mongolia in a sub 1 litre car isn't hard enough, this time the organisers have decided that the trip is to be done in the mighty fine Auto Rickshaw. 150cc worth of Indian Engineering's finest.

Welcome to the 1st ever Rickshaw Run... We've got two sleep deprived weeks of bus, truck and cow evasive driving through tropically hot jungle, the occasional desert and a few small mountains known as the Himalayas... Still, it is not all sweat and toil as we will have the occasional joys of Cricket, afternoon tea and gin & tonics to look forward to at various stages of the journey.

This is the first time the event is being run. We have no idea if the Rickshaw is capable of such a monumental journey, or if such distances can be covered in such a short time. Having never been to India we don't even know if we can even survive there... This, of course, can only add to the fun and adventure.
